1. We Will Fly (4:45)

Hey now my young brother so strong and on your way there
Do you know where there is going to be
Every word that you've prayed and every song that you've played
I heard them well sang harmony

The first time you were on your knees your heart was blind your soul could not see
Everything around was out of hand
I've been there through all you've learned and every corner that you've turned
And held the door from boy to man

Oh my it's been a long time coming
For you to stop your wondering
Come with me and we will fly

No need to spend your mind in yesterday
The days to come are so far away
Lay your head upon my chest
And I will give you rest

Come on step outside and play with your hair flowing
Like a child on your father's knee
Every answer is not worth knowing and to get where you are going
You're right where you need to be

7. Work Like We Don't Need the Money (3:23)

Billy and his new girl one sunny afternoon going for a ride
On a big bright yellow Harley cruising down the riverside
Billy yelled into the wind before you baby my heart was hanging by a thread
But you've showed me how to love and I'll never forget the first time you said

Let's work like we don't need the money
Let us love like we've never been burned
Let's dance like no one's watching
There's so much left to learn
Let us show our hearts so clearly
Let us run across green fields
All our worries are not nearly as strong
As the love that we feel

They parked under the sun and walked a while hand in hand
Two hearts together sharing footsteps through the sand
They laughed and played and skipped some rocks along the water's edge
Then turned and kissed and with their eyes renewed this pledge

2. Grandpa Told Me (3:53)

My grandpa of 80 years used to talk to me about love and fear he said
He'd found no in-between
He said live in love and you will fly and fear's the thing that causes hearts to die
So hold on to your dreams
And all his favorite memories are simple times like these

He said rainbows come with rainy skies and Romeos and Juliets disguised
Joy's behind your eyes
And what you seek you'll surely find but only in your heart and soul and mind
And wisdom comes with time

And there's one thing he would do if he had his life again
He'd say I love you all he could
To his family and his friends

Rainbows come with rainy skies it's been a year since grandpa died and I
Sure do miss his smile
And what he taught I've come to find that love is in my heart and soul and mind
And wisdom comes with time

So I will go back home again
For I long to see my family and my friends

8. When I Hold You (3:49)

Since the first time I saw your face I knew you'd be my special one
Every time that we embrace I hold the morning and the sun
Like the rain that feeds the ground and roots support the tree
Like the lost need the found you're the very best of me

Before you came I was all-right I knew I could make it on my own
But sometimes I'd cry late at night wondering if I'd live my life alone
But to walk through any door I know that love's the only key
And the moment I let you go is the moment you came to me

When I hold you I hold my best friend
And I'd love to be with you 'til the end
Oh the sweetest of fruits never fall from the vine
When I hold you my whole world shines

Girl you've doubled all my joy and cut my sorrow right in two
I must be the luckiest man alive to walk this world with a dream like you
As we go on down the years I'll cherish with you every day
And every night when we lay down I'll whisper in your ear and say

3. Goin' Home (3:43)

Going home to see my babe going home to see my babe
And you know it seems like years
She used to dry all my tears
Oh to see my babe

When I get there I will see
She is still in love with me
Oh to see my babe

Going home to love my baby going home to love my baby
And you know it seems like such a long time
She used to ease my mind

And I know she'll understand
When I take her by the hand
And love my babe

Oh the days keep rolling on
Oh and it seems like so damn long
Man the time keeps dragging on
But I'm going home I'm going home

But I'm going home to see my babe
Going home to love my baby
And you know it seems like such a long time
She used to ease my mind

When I get there I will see
She is still in love with me
And I know she'll understand
When I take her by the hand
And love my babe
Going home

9. Fools and Dreamers (3:07)

Well my coffee's hot and steaming
And my cornflakes nice and crunchy
As I sit here in my robe planning my day
There's so much I need to do so much I must get through
So that tomorrow I can be on my way

I'm going to fish in Argentina with a green eyed Senorita
And climb Mount Everest in my tennis shoes
Then I'll get myself a pony and ride up to Alaska
They'll tell my story on the morning news

I'm going to build a great big mansion on an island in the ocean
Get me a pet cockatoo I'll name him Sam
And if that all don't work out right I'll move to the desert
And open up an ice cream stand

I've heard that fools are never dreamers
Never wondering what is out there
And the possibilities around the bend
I don't know if that holds true
If it's me maybe you
I only hope you'll be my friend

I'm going to write the classic novel number one on the New York Yimes
I simply got to put to paper what's right here in my mind
And then I'll ride across the country in a big black limousine
Paid for in full by People Magazine don't that sound keen

Now my coffee's cold and cloudy
And my cornflakes limp and soggy
As I sit here in my robe planning my day
There's so much I need to do so much I must get through
So that tomorrow I can be on my way

4. I'm Right by Your Side (4:02)

The sunrise is shining I knew this day would come
When we'd stand together a man and a son
And eighteen years seem like a day maybe three
Since you were a little boy laughing on my knee

Oh the plane's at the gate Lord it's time that you fly
Remember so long don't mean goodbye
And you know that I love you you've made me so proud
Remember these word oh I'll shout 'em out loud

Oh the path that you walk boy must be your own
Every step's yours but don't walk 'em alone
And the path out before you is long and it's wide
Though you may not see me I'm right by your side

Before you run off boy just a couple more things
All gold that glitters is not as it seems
And the courage to love is the secret to joy
As you learn to be a man don't forget about the boy

When it's cloudy and you see only rain
Search for the rainbow again
Or lonely and feeling afraid
Reach out your hand to a friend

Oh the path that you walk boy must be your own
Every step's yours but don't walk 'em alone
And the path out before you is long and it's wide
Though you may not see me I'm right by your side

As I walk away doesn't seem long ago
I looked at my dad as he watched me go
He said you know that I love you you've made me so proud
Remember these word oh I'll shout 'em out loud

Oh the path that you walk boy must be your own
Every step's yours but don't walk 'em alone
And the path out before you is long and it's wide
Though you may not see me I'm right by your side

10. Along Fields of Green (4:26)

I've got a canoe on a river wide
The sun is high and the water clear
Miles to go before I pull aside
Through the turns and rocks I steer

Drifting along this gorgeous stream
Splashing along the shores and fields of green

Faces and places of yesterday
Ripples in my wake now memories
The water only knows one way
Flowing only where it is never where it used to be

Down this corridor to the unforeseen
Splashing along the shores and fields of green

And when the wind breathes strong with white caps all around
And skies of black replace the blue
Keep myself upright to get to where I'm bound
And trust the current will carry me through

Sometimes I feel so small on this little craft
On a course so broad and deep and true
Dipping my paddle Lord I have to laugh
I'm sure glad I have this canoe

On this river wide I'll glide downstream
Splashing along the shores and fields of green
Down this corridor to the unforeseen
Splashing along the shores and fields of green

5. Where I Was Born (4:10)

Well I'm sitting on this hill
Staring down at my hometown
I've heard it said you can never go home again
I don't know if that holds true
The second time around

My hair's still dark but now there's some gray
The same is true for most of my old friends
The schoolyard sure looks smaller now it's hard to believe
The miles I have walked since then
And the places I have been

I have seen true fields of green
And grass growing high around clear running streams
And I have known meadows of gold
And flowers forever too many to hold

All I am and all I've known
And the gardens I have grown
Planted here long ago in this soil
Where I was born

Feeling like a child silently I pray
Giving thanks to the path that I have tread
Though my mind tells me I'm older now
My heart won't forget the place where I first was given bread
And a place to lay my head

And I have felt the raven's cold stare
Shine deep in my eyes when my heart is bare
And I have known the love of the wise
When all falls away with peace in their eyes

11. New Hellos and New Goodbyes (3:00)

I wonder what the blooming of next April will reveal
And all that I may hope and love and blossoms I will feel
Lord I know no matter where the Spring no matter near or far
That where I am is where you are

I wonder what I'll dream come the lady of next May
In her flowing flowered gown will she hear the words I pray
Lord I suppose 'tween know and then I'll laugh and I will tear
And you'll be there just like your here

Lord I'm amazed what you conceal within a year
I give you all I am all that I have and all that I fear
And when you come to me with gentle hands and lay me down to rest
Help me know I've done my best

Sometimes I get the feeling I should go on down the line
See what's around the corner and what treasures I can find
But no matter where I walk above's the shine of the moon
I guess I'll know come next June

And as I look behind it don't seem strange
Best times I've ever had been when I've changed
And I will write a brand new song come July
Of new hellos and new good-byes

6. Thanks to the Morn (3:30)

Thirty-four years old she wakes up alone
Wipes the sleep from her eyes the day yet unknown
With the faith of a child she looks in the mirror
And sees her self smile a heart without fear

The jewels of this world once stole all her dreams
Now she sees the beauty in all little things
She brushes her hair a gleam in her eye
She knows she'll never be thirsty
God's well don't run dry

And a new sun is smiling
Over high mountains shining
She raises her heart giving thanks to the morn

It once was she'd spend every morn on the run
So much to do so many games to be won
Now that seems a lifetime ago far away
One million miles from today

She steps out to the dawn cool air on her face
Feeling her soul flowing with grace
She sits in her chair her mind filled with peace
And watches the stars fade in the east

12. Goin' Home to Jesus (3:35)

I was looking for a love that did not have conditions
Someone just to take me as I am without me asking for permission
For there's been times to my surprise friends have vanished in thin air
When you don't know where you're going any road you choose will get you there

I've found the door of peace is locked when I believe it's up to me
And the door of love swings opens when I get down on my knees
If there's a book I want as my pillow when it's time for me to die
I guess that's the book that I should read every day that I'm alive
Going home

I'm going home to Jesus going to let him take my hand
Let him build my house upon the rock and not the sand
Going home to Jesus feeling like the prodigal son
Going to my father Lord and fall into his arms

I can't deny the many wrong turns on the path that I have led
Now I hope and pray to stay on the trail where I find my daily bread
On my own I've found myself so afraid and all alone
Now that I know where I'm going I know this road I'm on
Will take me home

I'm going home to Jesus going to give him everything
Give him all I am all that I have and every word I sing
Going home to Jesus feeling like the prodigal son
Going to my father Lord and fall into his arms

I was looking for a love that did not have conditions
Someone just to take me as I am without me asking for permission
On my own I've found myself so afraid and all alone
Now that I know where I'm going I know this road I'm on
Will take me home
